The Devon and Somerset Design Review Panel are delighted to have worked with the Plymouth Branch of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Plymouth Architectural Trust and the Plymouth School of Architecture to have set up and run an ideas competition for the regeneration of the West End of Plymouth City Centre.

The competition was open to all, and expressions of interest were invited to provide visionary design ideas for a concept that revitalises the West End of Plymouth City Centre whilst enhancing the surrounding areas and supporting a wider city vision. The competition extended the spirit of Sir Patrick Abercrombie’s radical post-war Plan for Plymouth into the twenty-first century, and sought adventurous proposals that imagine a lively, inclusive, successful future for the city.

The shortlisted team(s) proceeded to stage two, and received an honorarium of £3,000.00 to propduce proposals that were then presented to the the Design Review Panel as part of a design review panel session for formal judging and feedback.
